Cara is a San Diego therapist passionate about helping families with babies and young children. From family planning, fertility, pregnancy and post-partum, Cara is experienced in helping clients overcome grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. She supports parents with new babies when things don’t go the way the parents expected. Some issues clients seek support with are: a traumatic pregnancy or birth, fetal or infant loss, a NICU admission, adoption, known or unexpected infant disability, post-partum depression/anxiety and adjusting to a new life with your new baby and growing child. Cara will support your family through family planning into middle childhood, helping you navigate the twists and turns.
Cara received her Master of Social Work from San Diego State University and is licensed in the state of California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She has worked in agencies such as San Diego Center for Children, San Diego Unified School District with the Early Intervention Program and the Preschool Mental Health Program, Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns.
Cara’s theoretical perspective is primarily rooted in attachment, human development, brain development, psychodynamic, and cognitive/behavioral theory. Cara is also trained in EMDR for trauma care. Cara welcomes clients from any cultural or faith based background and any sexual orientation or identification.
